Jidbab Se (/ʤid/ /bab/ [disgust] [bald]) is a subtropical Town located in Chyikrassalo Hold, Híhksvtíhj Provence, within the Tauranian United Provinces.

The name Jidbab Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Jidbab Se was founded by Gêlë Baines, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Jidbab Se has a yearly average temperature of 22°C (71°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 31°C (87°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 14°C (57°F). Jidbab Se receives an average of 239 cm/y (94 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Jidbab Se covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 1240 m (4068 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Jidbab Se was founded durring the late 19th century in early fall of the year 1774, by Gêlë Baines. The establishment of Jidbab Se was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Gêlë Baines struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Jidbab Se as a prison colony.

Jidbab Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 19th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Jidbab Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Jidbab Se is was constructed arround several broad paverstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. Unfortuantly, these millitarily questionable fortifications are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

The first thing you notice about Jidbab Se is the large sign at the entrance welcoming you to their humble town. Children come up to you and say hi, some asking if you’ve fought any big monsters, and others just zipping away after their hello. The adults are much the same. By the time you’ve made it a significant way into the town you’ve been invited to a tavern for a pint to drink in exchange for news of the world. You’ve also had no less than three older women give you a sweetroll and direct your attention to their still unmarried children. It would be creepy if it wasn't so sincere.

Jidbab Se has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Jidbab Se's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Jidbab Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Jidbab Se's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is recurring in Jidbab Se.

The Blink Dog near Jidbab Se are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Jidbab Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Conjuration energies of tier 3 via throat chanting.

Points of Interest

While private tutelage of worthy apprentices can be had even in most remote villages, Jidbab Se is home to a proper school dedicated to teaching magic. Such schools are usually small, with no more than a few dozen pupils, most of whom will fail for lack of talent or discipline. The instructors are rarely first-rate, usually serving only for the pay and status, but sometimes a genius sorcerer will find a reason to observe likely apprentices here. Given the unfortunate accident potential of the school, it’s probably isolated or well-fortified.

Jidbab Se makes use of canals for some of its streets. Locals often fish in the canals.

POI

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Jidbab Se was attacked by members of a peasant revolt. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Jidbab Se lost 255 people, 394 livestock, and 37 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 132, when members of Jidbab Se's militia enacted an operation to bring aid to another fighting force. The operation was complicated by aggravated civilians, who cause problems for the militia for a host of reasons. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in victory for Jidbab Se's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Jidbab Se's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
